Happy New Year

On the last day of 2007 I searched the marshes of Primehook at sunrise and sunset and could only find the same Heron, willing to stand still while I took his picture, at the beginning and end of daylight.  Thanks to one willing subject.

Double Eagle

Chasing wildlife with a camera is an interesting activity.  One can go to the same place day after day, at the same time each day and never see the same thing twice (or even once most of the time).  Today two Bald Eagles decided to go to the same place I did right at the same time as me.  I thank them greatly for their cooperation.  Great light, two magnificent birds and a borrowed lens that I usually do not have access to came together to make a truly wonderful moment.  My friendly Heron was apparently bored by the whole thing.

My friend, renowned photographer Kevin Fleming, and I went out at both sunrise and sunset on the day before Christmas and were richly rewarded for our efforts.  The full moon setting started the day, followed by an early morning Heron siting.  What appeared to be nothing more than a yawn (if Herons actually do such a thing) preceded his jump to a more distant location.  In the afternoon I found an Eagle before I joined up with Kevin, and then we both captured a beautiful sunset.  It was a memorable Christmas Eve.
