I am in Connecticut this weekend and found this wildflower and fungus in the woods this afternoon. Can anybody tell me what the flower is?

Birds by the thousands move about beaches and dunes as part of their life cycle. It is remarkable that we don’t see more skeletal remains. This bird skull caught my eye tonight as I explored the dunes in search of a photograph.

During World War Two the coast of Delaware was heavily defended against possible enemy attack by boat or submarine. There are still remnants of those fortifications along the Delawre coast. The rising sun last week cast its light between two WWII artifacts.

I love watching terns. They are beautiful birds and great fishers. They are also very quick in their flight patterns and so, difficult to photograph. Here are three Forster’s Terns fishing a couple of mornings ago.

My breakfast was found very easily this morning, right in my kitchen. I stopped by the marsh on the way into work and found a large group of Snowy Egrets wading in the shallows working hard to find fish for their breakfast. This sequence shows one of the lucky ones who took the suggestion ‘dive in’ literally.

I see many Great Blue Herons around the coast of Delaware, and they sometimes roost in trees. I had not been able to photograph this until last week. Here is a treed heron shaking out the troubles of the day.

Foxes are in den now but come out for meal breaks. Such is the case with this one that I photographed late one afternoon last week.

Last night I posted one photograph of an eagle I had shot earlier in the evening. Here are the rest of the sequence of his launch into flight.

We have had a fair share of cloudy days recently, so with a bright sunny sky today I headed out toward Delaware Bay after work in search of subjects. This eagle was enjoying the break in the weather too.
