Benjamin Franklin promoted the Wild Turkey as our national bird. The Bald Eagle won out of course, but what if… The photograph I posted last night makes it easier to understand what a majestic bird the Wild Turkey is. This face portrait leaves us with a slightly different opinion, I think.

Most of the 3,000 facets of the compund eyes of this dragonfly are looking right at you. I wonder what we look like to them.

This Forster’s Tern was locked in on its prey. I’m glad they are not bigger than me.

A photograph from a warmer time. These two herons were enjoying a lazy day at the marsh pond.

This Harp Seal looks like it had a run in with the sandman, but it is just the trapping of napping on the beach without a towel to lie on.

A combination of travel and really lousy weather here at the Delaware Coast has resulted in no new photos on my blog for a long while. I aim to remedy that. This photograph was taken just about this time last year. I hope for bright sunny mornings so I can get back out in the field
