The sunset last night turned out to be the last sunny sunset of the decade here at the Delaware coast. The blue moon tonight is covered by clouds. Happy New Year to everyone and thanks to all of the people who have visited my website this past year. I look forward to taking and posting exciting new photographs in the coming year.

Eagles gathered in a grove of trees this morning on the edge of the marsh as the sun rose. Ten Bald Eagles were grouped together waiting for enough light to start fishing for breakfast. In this photograph one leaves as the other two watch and wait.

Winter weather has returned to Delaware with strong northerly winds today. These Northern Pintails were feeding in the marsh in preparation for a long, cold windy night. In the top photograph the hen may be saying ‘See ya’ as she jumps up from her small group.

American Coots were working the marsh shallows last night. This one had just come up from a dive for dinner and was glistening in the late day sun.

I found a small flock of Canada Gees this morning on a mirror-like pond in Primehook National Wildlife Refuge.

Early this morning the clouds from yesterday’s snow storm were pushing out to sea. As the sun broke through at dawn on the last day of Fall, this walkway to the beach was not quite as inviting as it is on a hot July morning.

We are still in the midst of a pretty good snowstorm here in Delaware as I write this. I went out early this morning to see what was stirring early in the storm. Wildlife was hard to find so snow covered reeds were the subject of the morning.

The forecast is for snow here in Delaware on Saturday. Tonight there were snows in the sky at sunset, Snowgeese pitching into their over-night field as the sun went down behind the trees.
