After a solid week of clouds and showers here in Delaware, the sun came out just before sunset tonight. These Snowy Egrets preened in the still, mirror-like water.

This Snowy Egret has just filled its belly with fish and is happy to be leaving full.

I have been waiting for egrets to return in large numbers to a pond where I photographed them last year. The wait is over. This morning Snowy Egrets were fighting for fishing space, causing them to puff out their feathers to look as menacing as possible. Here is a ferocious fisher who got lucky.

I finally had a chance to visit the marsh on the way to work today, and with a relatively clear sky. I was lucky enough to chance upon a Black-bellied Plover and some Snowy Egrets working the shallows and mud flats.

My breakfast was found very easily this morning, right in my kitchen. I stopped by the marsh on the way into work and found a large group of Snowy Egrets wading in the shallows working hard to find fish for their breakfast. This sequence shows one of the lucky ones who took the suggestion ‘dive in’ literally.
