Yard Birds

Winter bird photography can include the luxury of shooting birds attracted to feeders from right inside the comfortable environment of your living room.  In my case I shoot from my desk into bushes just outside my desk window with feeder to the side of the bushes.  I keep my camera on one side of my desk and on days when elements outside create moments I find appealing I keep one eye on the bushes and feeders.  Here are white throated sparrows and a cardinal photographed from my desk chair.  Call me a Monday morning, arm chair photographer.

Dwarf Palmetto

We were in Buxton on the Outer Banks for Thanksgiving and I’m just getting around to working with some images from that trip.  Along one of the nature trails in the National Seashore there were many dwarf palmettos.  From what I could, find this plant is at the northern most limit of its range on the Outer Banks. Its beautiful, radial symmetry is a fantastic photography subject and caught my eye on our hike.
