The Delaware marshes support a large population of egrets in our warm months. Recently, I have seen only single birds in the marshes around Lewes as most egrets have apparently headed south. I like the symbolism of the egret in this photograph. With water dripping from its feet, it represents to me the leap that begins the journey pursuing warm weather to the south as the season turns.
