In recent posts I have talked about fishing season getting active again now that spring is here. That is very true in nature too. Egrets are back in our marshes now so minnows and mummichogs need to be on their toes, er, fins. The battle captured in this photograph shows a decisive moment between a snowy egret and a mummichog, and the little fish seems to have gotten a lucky break when the egret let go as it to tried to toss it a little further back into its bill. The egret keeps its eye on the prize, though, so a second plunge may have been more successful.
