In my post yesterday I used the word ‘sedge’ to refer to a flock of egrets. Research on the subject of what a flock of egrets is called also informed me that a group of egrets can also be referred to as a congregation, a siege, and a wedge. Take your pick of descriptor but in any case a large grouping of both great and snowy egrets (with a few tri-colored herons thrown in for variety) along a bank in Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge is pretty darn photo worthy. It was a pretty special morning.
