This young buck white-tailed passed through the woods behind our house the other day. He was hobbling along on three legs, never putting any weight on his left rear leg. Clearly he has a badly injured leg, probably a broken bone and probably the result of an encounter with a car. My assumptions aside, he is clearly suffering but still making his way in his world. Look closely at the phragmites stem hanging off of his antlers, indicating he has just made his way through a thicket of reeds.
