July Heat

Heat and humidity are the the calling cards of July in Delaware. Sometimes the heat works on the humidity just right and wonderful clouds develop. This was the case yesterday afternoon at the coast. I’m sure the marshes of Sussex County add a significant amount of water to create this magnificent sky. Sunset yesterday was equally picturesque at this same location. Photographs of that to come.

Thunder rumbled from a storm passing south of Lewes this afternoon. The view from Canary Creek was very nice.

Otter Point State Park, OR

If you want secluded beaches and vast open areas to wander on the coast Oregon has it. This photograph was taken last summer on a beautiful July morning. Like nearly all beaches we visited there was no one else there.

Jim Thorpe Christmas

Weekend getaway to Jim Thorpe PA to enjoy a storybook like Christmas village. No snow here but light rain lit up holiday lights reflected on the streets and storefronts are beautifully decorated for the season. It’s beautiful here.

Winter Enters

Following yesterday’s 65 degree temperatures, snow blanketed coastal Delaware this morning. Fall in the Mid-Atlantic is full of variety, to say the least.

Jug Handle Sate Park, CA

Vacation this summer was a 10 day road trip from the Columbia River to San Francisco along the Washington, Oregon and California coastline.  Photo opportunities were abundant in the many State and National parklands we visited and views from frequent roadside pull offs along Rte. 1 were a never ending treat of coastal vistas or redwoods.  We spent a couple of hours at Jug Handle State Park in CA where this early morning foggy scene greeted us.

Pamlico Storm

Taking the ferry from Cedar Island to Ocracoke last week there were thunderstorms over the mainland that were fun to watch from a safe distance in the middle of Pamlico Sound.
