Otter Point State Park, OR

If you want secluded beaches and vast open areas to wander on the coast Oregon has it. This photograph was taken last summer on a beautiful July morning. Like nearly all beaches we visited there was no one else there.

Jim Thorpe Christmas

Weekend getaway to Jim Thorpe PA to enjoy a storybook like Christmas village. No snow here but light rain lit up holiday lights reflected on the streets and storefronts are beautifully decorated for the season. It’s beautiful here.

Winter Enters

Following yesterday’s 65 degree temperatures, snow blanketed coastal Delaware this morning. Fall in the Mid-Atlantic is full of variety, to say the least.

Jug Handle Sate Park, CA

Vacation this summer was a 10 day road trip from the Columbia River to San Francisco along the Washington, Oregon and California coastline.  Photo opportunities were abundant in the many State and National parklands we visited and views from frequent roadside pull offs along Rte. 1 were a never ending treat of coastal vistas or redwoods.  We spent a couple of hours at Jug Handle State Park in CA where this early morning foggy scene greeted us.

Pamlico Storm

Taking the ferry from Cedar Island to Ocracoke last week there were thunderstorms over the mainland that were fun to watch from a safe distance in the middle of Pamlico Sound.

Sunset On The Flats

Sometimes the simplicity of monochrome is what the scene is all about.

A Change in the Weather

A cold front blasted through the Cape Region today bringing heavy rain and a sharp drop in temperature.  At 1:30 in Lewes it was 73 degrees out but in one hour it had dropped to 56.  Just when you Delaware coast locals thought that some spring weather had finally arrived nature dropped in the cold NW winds again.  Anyway, I loved the dramatic sky the front brought in as it approached Cape Henlopen.

Reflecting In Cambridge

Photographing through the window of a store front window in Cambridge MD recently an interesting reflection became part of the composition.  This was the scene as I saw it through the window glass.  A slightly surreal look at past, present and future at least as my mind’s eye sees it, as the empty store is planned for a new opportunity. Downtown Cambridge is sprouting new restaurants and stores all the time.  It’s a great place to visit.

Dewey First light

I caught the first rays of sunlight today on Dewey Beach.  A beautiful January morning on the beach with a tolerable temperature of 32, which is a bit warmer at sunrise  than it has been recently.
