Fall Is Coming

September 21, 2024

As a photographer living on the coast of Delaware primarily interested in landscapes and wildlife,  I find myself surrounded by great subjects to shoot all summer long.  Perhaps the inviting warm (and often way hot) weather reduces my desire to go very far from home but as daylight hours shorten and daily average air temperature becomes cooler I get the urge to go a little farther afield.  Growing up as a New Englander I begin to yearn for mountains, streams and colorful trees as summer turned to fall.  The travel bug wakes up in me as summer closes down and I start to plan where and when to satisfy that hunger I have for mountains in autumn.  Pam and I have a trip planned next month that, fingers crossed, will put us in beautiful fall colors and rolling hills.  Our travel is most often centered around photography in one form or another so I hope to have some nice photos to share toward the end of October.  A few years back I spent a week in Vermont capturing fall foliage.  As I dream of the trip ahead I also fondly remember trips in the past exploring beautiful countryside and photographing special scenes and vivid colors.  Sometimes you just have to get INTO the scene as I did in this Vermont stream walled in by colorful trees.  Fall is coming, in fact meteorological fall began on the 1st of this month and the astronomical fall starts at 8:43 (EDT) Sunday morning.  Bye bye summer.
