Even though the weather here on the Delaware coast screams July (hazy, hot, humid), fall migrators are on the move and stocking up for long flights south. I caught this monarch this morning feasting on coneflower nectar in Canal Front Park in Lewes. I like to research subjects I photograph and I learned that monarchs depend on fall flower’s nectar to gain fat for their migration to Mexico and to survive the winter. Thanks to the Lewes In Bloom group their hard work in the butterfly gardens in the park.
