March, true to form, dishes out a variety of weather. Near 80 degrees one day and lows in the 20s a few days later. We wait for April to see more consistent spring like weather. But as we slog through March, spring bird migration has begun. Osprey have been seen in the area and egrets will be here before you know it. They may already be in the area but I haven’t seen any yet. On a cold, blustery, rainy Saturday morning I looked back in my photography files and found some nice images of great egrets in the marshes of Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. Dreaming of warmer weather this morning and the return of the summer breeding population of wading and shore birds.
